Choosing the Perfect Campground for RV Camping

Embarking on an RV camping adventure can be an exciting experience, allowing you to explore nature's wonders while enjoying the comforts of your home on wheels. However, selecting the right campground can greatly enhance your overall camping experience. In this blog post, we will look at a few factors to consider when choosing a campground for your RV camping trip. From pull-through and full hookup sites to amenities, onsite stores, and family friendliness, we've got you covered!

  • Pull-Through Sites: When searching for an RV campground, it's important to consider the type of site that suits your needs. Pull-through sites are an excellent option for RV enthusiasts, especially those who prefer convenience and ease of parking. These sites allow you to drive your RV straight through the site without the need for backing up, making them ideal for larger rigs or first-time RV campers.

  • Full Hookup Sites: To ensure maximum comfort during your RV camping adventure, opt for campgrounds that offer full hookup sites. These sites provide electricity, water, and sewer connections directly at your campsite. Having access to these amenities allows you to run your RV appliances, take showers, and dispose of wastewater without hassle. You will want to know whether you need 30 or 50 amp service. You can always use a converter to upgrade your plug from a 30 amp to a 50 amp but it is usually not a good idea to try to convert down. This could cause you to trip breakers and cause outages for your camper

  • Amenities: Consider the amenities available at the campground to enhance your overall camping experience. Look for amenities such as clean restrooms, hot showers, laundry facilities, and recreational areas. Campgrounds with water access, playgrounds, hiking trails, and picnic areas offer additional entertainment options for you and your family.

  • Onsite Store: Having an onsite store or campsite supplies can be incredibly convenient, especially when you need to stock up on essentials or forgot to pack something. An onsite store can provide you with groceries, camping gear, firewood, propane, and other supplies you may need during your stay. It's always a good idea to check if the campground offers this facility or if there are stores nearby for any emergency purchases.

  • Family Friendliness: If you're traveling with your family, it's important to choose a campground that caters to the needs of all age groups. Look for campgrounds with kid-friendly amenities such as playgrounds. Some campgrounds may also organize movie nights or holiday specific activities such as trick-or-treating, crafts and fireworks. When children are involved, safety is the most important attribute to look for, allowing kids to be kids and parents to have peace of mind.

Remember every campground is different. They offer different ameneties, have different rules and different atmospheres. Start exploring new places and make new memories in the process. Many campgrounds have websites and social media where you can get a better idea of what they offer, or you can go the old fashioned route and just give them a call. Ask questions. You will find owners, managers and camp hosts are more than happy to help make your experience a happy one.
